Check List

So your super excited for your baby lotls to come to their new home!? well make sure that all of things things are in there so they can be healthy and happy with you! :)

1. Aged Water (at least 48 hours) with 20-25% (40-50% when adults) Holtrefetters Solution (What is this? #10) Depth should be between 5-12 inches depending on the length of your axolotl

2.  Large rocks too big to fit in their mouths (be careful where you buy them, some are painted and can poison the water)

3. Hiding Places. Make sure that whatever you buy, that its not ceramic. ceramic is highly toxic to aquatic animals

4. Some nice plants: They love plants. they do not have to be real. but make sure that the bottom is not a sharp type of rock.

5. Sponge Filter +Air Pump = Filtration PERFECT for axolotls. Simply squeeze out the sponge once a day under cold water and put it back in! other filters often put out too strong of a current to keep your lotls happy.

6. Feeding Dishes (Optional) a small glass dish will help keep their food in one spot.

7. Turkey Baster: (Optional) Axolotls Poop little shell like things. a turkey baster is an easy way to suck it out quickly before it starts to cause problems.

8. A tank divider especially if if you have a wild colored axolotl. they tend to be more aggressive towards non wild type axolotls.  however, if your tank is big enough and you keep them well fed, it shouldnt be a problem. but better safe than sorry (trust me i know)

9. A cool place. Its extremely important that axolotls stay in cool water. preferably out of the sun. that will keep it cooler and keep algae from growing.

If you have all of the necessary things then you are ready for your baby to come home! make sure that when your ready to put them in the water, you acclimate them correctly! (Skip to 1:50)
